Our VBS is in August and we have 13 4 year olds among the 60 kids. Have seen some postings that it was difficult to have 4 yr olds, that most of it went over their heads. Anyone have suggestions or thoughts about how to handle?

We held our Rome VBS in June. We had 20+ kids who were 3 or 4. The 3 and 4 year olds were in their own group so the skits could be brought down to their level a bit--we asked Brutus not to be so mean and Paul and other church members explained things more on thier level.

The family group leaders for this age group were a mother and grandmother of a kid that age, so they were able to bring it down. The leaders focused more on the theme verse and what it meant than getting the kids to undersand how everything else played together. After Extollo we let the preschool group take the extollo book and cd and they practiced the songs if they had some free time. Most of our kids were able to tell you what the verse of the day was at the end of the day.

Since the HLA is set up to be family oriented, we mentioned on the registration that any child under the age of five, had to have a parent or guardian with them during the program.
