| The kids really enjoyed making these today, but they all complained that they hurt when they put them on (the edges of the caps are a little sharp),so we thought to turn the caps over, and put the stickers on the inside of the caps and string them so they wear the caps upside down. They liked that much better! Just a tip....... Kari in FL

So my suspicions are confirmed! Although, I didn't think the Group Craft ones would be sharp!
We purchased bottle caps from a supplier off ebay, are punching holes with a 1/16" punch (the one from Fiskars works best so far) and are going to turn them into either key chains or zipper pulls. I was worried that even if we turned them over they could still be kind of scratchy. I'm going to print the fear not on sticker paper, use a round hole punch to cut them out, then let the kids put the stickers on the bottlecaps & string them up. I still haven't found a cord that I like, that doesn't fall apart at the ends while stringing.. has anyone else tried making these on their own?

| We made bracelets last year and I used thicker elastic cord found more in the sewing section of Hobby Lobby, etc. than in the jewelry section (sold in individual pkg, not by the roll). You could also try a cord called rattail, although it does require a little bigger hole to thread through or it will start to fray also. Hope that helps.

| Same problem was noted in our VBS, but I never got around to posting it. The Craft leader and crew leaders came up with the same solution, to basically do it inside out - sticket on the inside, cord on the outside.

You could just buy circle labels to start with and then you wouldn't have to worry about punching out circles. It would also be easier for the kids to peel (we had to start the peel for all of our "Fear Not" shirt letters.) Also, they make a leather cording that might work well for this. It comes in a roll and is with the plastic cording at Hobby Lobby.

| We choose to make a bottle cap necklace. Early on I scratched myself intentionally with the group bottle cap and a real one and the group one left quite a mark on my arm. We used one bottle cap and a Fear Not sticker printed on round labels. They use sharpies to color the bottle cap and added beads (we used foam beads from OTC and what ever else we had around.) The kids enjoyed making them, and I did see them worn the rest of the week. We used string elastic and the fraying was minimal.
