Can you give me any ideas on how to make an easy cross for Bible Bayou?I know each group is supposed to write on it so in addition to making the cross I'm wondering how to have a "clean slate" for each rotation. Thanks!

what we did was take two rug rolls

put them together like lincoln logs.  into a cross shape. painted them with the paint we had the lightest color we had .  I think you Don't really need a clean slate each time.  having the names will add to how special the cross is .

After we put the rug rolls together with string and hot glue then we painted it.

God bless

We made a rugged lumber cross in a stand. We used the same one in all rotations, so the cross was covered with red ink. After the night was over we wished we had used the same cross in the Firefly Finale. It would have been effective to have the same one with each of the kids' names on it. You can use something very simply, like paper crosses cut out, but cardboard rolls from wrapping paper, or even paper towels would be satisfactory. I liked the nearly life-size lumber one that was heavy and burdensome, like the one Jesus carried.

I built a cross out of a 10 ft. long piece of 4" X 4" treated lumber.  It cost me about $10.  I built a base out of four pieces of scrap 2X4 to hold it up.  If you would like for me to give more detail, just let me know.  I happened to have two large nails laying around.  (I would have loved to have a third nail, but time did not allow.)  I drilled two holes where the hands would go.  I drilled them large enough to be able to stick the nails in by hand so that they could be taken out for the kids to hold and touch.

I explained to the kids that my plan was to take the cross home and put it in my yard so that I could see it from my kitchen window.  I explained that the cross in my yard would be to remind me to pray for each of them.  We had the kids sign their names in red.  I made sure that I explained to them that signing this cross is not a way to salvation, just a reminder to me to pray.

It was a very effective tool in bringing the gospel that night.  We had about 100 kids in attendance.  Seventeen of them gave their lives to Christ that night.  It was so great to see the Holy Spirit move in such a marvelous way.

We used brown carpets rolls too (free) used rope to tie them together...and leaned it against our wall both in Bible & in the Firefly Finale....we didn't give kids a clean slate....was awesome to have everyone on there together. Was so effective in our Firefly Finale! Cannot wait to hear how well it goes for you!

We used the carpet tubes and two LONG bolts that I already had to hold them together.  I also covered the cross with the painted paper from the day before.

BTW, a cinder block works great as a stand for carpet tubes.  We just shoved some cardboard scraps in there to reinforce it!

My husband made one from a large cardboard box.  He folded it into about a 6" square tube and used packaging tape to secure it.  He made the longer upright portion and then attached the sided beams, using only packaging tape.  After he constructed it, we covered it with brown packaging paper.  We used the same cross for each rotation.  It was lightweight and easy to move. It wasn't fancy, but it did the job.  Hope this helps.

Thanks for all your great suggestions! We wound up making the cross today out of carpet tubing and cutting a notch in one and winding twine around to secure it. I love the rustic look of it. I'll have to take a picture tomorrow. It's a bit bigger than I intended but I really love the idea of letting all the kids write on the same cross and then using it in the Finale. We're fine with it leaning for Bible Bayou. I just have to figure out how to get it to stand up for the Finale.

We had a brother just use some left over wood and he nailed them together, but then we covered it with the blood stained door posts from the night 3, and then they wrote their names on it.
