| We tried something different this year that was surprisingly successful. Our VBS is in July. In early March I placed a plastic container, theme decorated, in the church. I told our congregation that if we started collecting coins in March, we could go a long way toward supporting VBS by July. I asked them to just empty their pockets of the quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies that were weighing them down. I was amazed to have people bring sandwich bags full of change. There was a weekly reminder in the church bulletin. By the time VBS started on July 13 we had collected $878!

| I forgot to mention that we are a country church with two services of less than 200 people total. Imagine what might be possible in a larger church.

| Hi all, I am given $1500.00 in budget, but also did fundraisers to supplement. The first thing that we did was had a Spaghetti Dinner after Sunday Morning Worship in March. We had all of the sauce donated, so we only had to buy noodles and bread. We also had the Salad and all toppings donated. We made around $250.00 doing this. Also, we are a small church with attendance on Sunday mornings of about 85. Some days will be better and most are much lower. The other thing that we did this year (and will do every year forever if we do as well as we did this year) is have a Yard Sale. We did it the first Saturday in May when the weather was getting warm and have it on the first Saturday of the month because people get their "checks" then. We also sold baked goods (donated by ladies in church), biscuits (donated from a local breakfast joint) and Hot Dogs. We made over $850.00!!!!! We had a few donations from elders who couldn't make it so we all in all made over $1,000.00!! We were soooo excited. The yard sale stuff was stuff the church members had donated after doing spring cleaning. Like I said, we will definately be doing this again, but I am going to add a Plant Sale to it. All our flower beds need cleaning and dividing out that time of year. Hope this will help. Jenny

Two fundraisers we do every year is the Penny Push, which is the coin jar decorated for the theme that year and a yard sale. We usually do very well with both.

We've done a garage sale the last two years and brought in $600 - $800. Our church sells homemade easter eggs each year. The organizer said if we want to take some and sell them, we get to keep the profit. We may do that this year.

Last year our church tried the yard sale/ bake sale event as a fundrasier. I am sad to say that we did not have the same outcome as many of you did. After a two day event we made $52.00 in profit. It seemed to me that a lot of work went into this event for the outcome to be as such. I also talked with another lady who did the same in her community. She stated the same that the outcome was not good. We both were thinking it had to do with the ecomony being so bad. However this year I made pumpkin rolls and sold them at our city's annual pumpkin festival. The result was amazing. I sold out every evening and we made $651.80. I could have easily made much more if I was able to bake more. We plan on doing this again next year. I know not everyone has a pumpkin festival but check around neighboring cities and see if there may be a festival you can particiapte in. We have a apple, and strawberry festival in our neighboring cities. I would recommend this to everyone. Remember that when people attend these events that they are expecting to spend some money so it makes it easier to sell things. Also I found that if your prices are cheap you sell more and in return you make more profit in the end.
