We're already planning for 2011 and would love to get your thoughts on where you'd like to go on your next HolyLand Adventure...well, after Egypt, of course! Please e-mail me directly at jbrolsma@group.com

Your feedback is so important--let us know what Bible setting you'd love for your church to explore.

I would love something that included the small but oh so important people of the Bible. Like the story of Ruth.

Or another mega story from the old testament. we seem to focus so much on the new testament and the old gets lost.

How about the present ?  Why not have the basis be the Biblical Characters and have them come into the present and show the kids the importance of living out their faith in the world today?  Totally new concept ... but I think the kids today need ways to live their faith in their own neighborhoods.

Paul's shipwreck on Malta. I just e-mailed you with this idea, but I'm posting it here to see if others are interested. It's a great faith adventure story and might attract the video-addicted kids in our congregations.

I love all these ideas but also would like to suggest that at least the basic literature from previous HLAs remain available.  Rome was the first we did and we would love to go back and do the others.  Can't wait to do Egypt!!

How about a Holy Land VBS about Jesus' journey to the different towns that He visited? The daily dramas could include miracles that could be easy to act out.

God Bless,

Josh

Jean, I second that thought! The first thing that came to my mind was Time Changer (website, synopsis). Time Changer is about a Bible professor from 1890 who comes forward in time to the present via a time machine and cannot believe the things that he sees. Great movie btw.

Imagine Noah, Moses, Jonah, David, and Paul traveling into the 21st Century! What would their message be? Perhaps the same as the one in their times? I dunno, but this would probably make a spectacular thought provoking movie rather than a HL VBS. Nevertheless, the creative minds at Group could probably tone it down and make it a very exciting and engaging experience for kids. Kinda gives me an idea for a skit!!

I love this idea too.  Instead of the "Marketplace" maybe the different stations could be the different towns that were visited.  The kids could follow a map throughout the week, or something like that.  And, imagine the dramas.  WOW.
