Hey folks,
New to the community here, and just wanted to say in advance thanks for all the great ideas and the help. Looking for a camp speaker for July '10 in Texas.
Basically, I just want to know how you guys find your speakers. Is there a place out there that can help me? Thanks

most of the time who you get is someone that you know personally, or that you get as a recommendation from a friend in ministry or that you pastor recommends. I know that when I do such, it comes from a pastor/staff member that knows me or that has heard of me. For this reason i get to be part of a ministry that is really kick but and planned out well or that is lame and poorly put together.

If you need someone, I would recommend Grady McDonald. He is who i would use. And if he is not available he will know someone that will rock your kids socks off. Grady is amazing gifted in speaking to students. They simply hear him. He is the only guy I personally know that I would say has the gift of evangelism. But please don't think he is just a story teller or only in it to see people walk down the isle. He is huge on discipleship and really helps students see the Word not just valid for their lives but necessary. For him evangelism is just part of discipleship and life change.

I know that he interviewed @ 1st Baptist Dallas over a year ago but felt that he needed to be closer to family. Shortly afterwards their were some family deaths so it was a thing he was near for his family. He also has a good relation with the staff @ Prestonwood. He has worked with Student Life some, not sure how in depth. He had a chance to speak at a couple of their camps but they conflicted with prior ministry engagements. One was a camp for a bout 40 kids but instead of ditching them for the big stage he held true and another was so the he could minster to his family. He was a student ministry curriculum writer for several years. He is constantly getting calls for rallies, camps, D-nows. Numerous students have come up under his ministry and have surrendered to ministry and turned out to be workers in the local church. He is a accomplished conference and camp planner. He ran his own camp for a couple of years. He is a member of T-force ministries, similar or the Power team, but different.

The coolest thing about him is he is not going to be a jerk and have a lot of demands like he is a superstar. He know that Christ is the superstar!! So Grady is some on that you think you could use in you situation give him a call @ 903-241-1714 hope it works out for you either way. oh, he is just about the only guy i would use. to many flaky people out there!
