I just bought the Bead Mania kit and wondered if anyone else out there is doing it.  I'm guessing it's brand new.  We've never done anything like this at our church before, and I'm excited.  We have a good size group of young adult women out there who aren't getting connected to each other.  Lots of them are new to church in general, and I think this is going to be a great way to enjoy fellowship with them without making them feel insecure about being at a bible study, class, etc.

We did it over lunch one day at work! Was fun to do a little project together with some other women, and we all walked away with a bright bracelet. I think this would work great for teen (and even pre-teen) girls since the bracelets are shiny and easy to make--everyone can wear one!

Did you have plenty of beads?  I know Group has definitely included enough to complete 8 bracelets . . . I'm wondering if anyone was left with not enough of a specific color, shape, etc.

Do you have any "do's" or "don'ts" to share?

It's one of the titles in Group's "Girls' Night Out" party kit series.  It's a plan for an evening of fellowship for 8 women.  There are supplies in the kit for 8 beaded bracelets.  Each woman chooses a colored bead and each color corresponds to a conversation-starting question.  Each woman goes around the table and responds to her question and over the course of the evening, everyone gets to know one another better AND leaves with a really cool bracelet as a reminder of the party.  The party guide gives ideas for how to decorate for the party, foods to serve, etc.  It comes with a CD-Rom that provides party music as well as templates for invitations, name cards, etc.

I'm not a very girly girl and this sort of thing typically doesn't appeal to me, but we have a whole crop of young mothers at our church who just don't seem to be gelling as a group.  A couple of us are going to step out of our comfort zone and host the party as a ministry to them in the hopes that it will build fellowship.

I stumbled across the kit at my local Berean Christian Store, but you can order it directly from Group.  Just do a search for "Bead Mania."  They even sell a refill kit for the bracelets in case you want to have more than 8, or repeat the party with a different group.  I love the previous post about doing it with co-workers at lunch!  We're going to hold our party in a couple of weeks, and I'll leave a post sharing how it went.

There are also Girls' Night Out Party kits with other themes (spa, chocolate, cooking). You can find them at www.group.com/women. Really fun for women--and your guests don't have to buy anything!

Amy-

How was your Bead Mania event? Let me know if you have any extras that I could use or any helpful tips.

I'd like to use this program for the ladies in my Youth Group as a thank you for all that they contribute to the Youth Group. If this one goes well, I'll think about having one every season (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter).

God Bless,
