| Just finished 3rd year of Group Easy VBS and are blessed with the format. Some are wanting to also do a program for those finishing 6th grade up to high school. Any ideas? I am sure we would not call it vacation Bible school! Probably do on a Saturday with swim party or cookout or hayride in evening. Do following regular VBS, maybe a week later, so our kids could serve as crew leaders/ assistants, etc. and then have their own experience. Have any of you done this? Thanks for information and ideas. Donna in Indiana:

| Group used to write a Youth and Adult VBS curriculum that everyone would come together for Sing & Play and Finale but in between those times they would break up into preschool, elementary, youth, and adults and do age appropriate activites. Group hasn't written any Youth or Adult VBS curriculum in a while so I don't know if they will have this as an option for High Seas Expedition. It's definitely a suggestion to ask Group about. God Bless, Josh

Group has still had the Youth (middle/high school) curriculum the last several years (Crocodile Dock was called "Bayou Bash", I believe). I would imagine Group is still offering a Youth option with High Seas. It can be used separate from running the regular VBS, although it is still written to be used in parallel, so there is not a separate opening/closing program. I have actually thought about ordering one for next year, and seeing if it would enhance our 'youth volunteer boot camp' program -- basically introducing all the lessons to the teens, at their level, prior to them being volunteers during our KidsCamp. So I'm hoping it is still being offered for H.S.2010!
God Bless!

Yes, there IS going to be a youth program for the High Seas Expedition program--it's called "Uncharted" and I'm SO excited because youth expert Rick Lawrence wrote it! Fun, inspiring, and challenging stuff

| Like a lot of you we use our middle school and high school kids as helpers in VBS. We run our VBS from 9 - 12:00. At noon we feed the middle schoolers then they stay until 1:30 for their own time. We hope they are listening to the story during the morning session then in the afternoon they go a little deeper with that same lesson. Then they have "fun" time. Sometimes they stay at the church to play a game or they go mini golfing, swimming, once they went to visit a classmate in the hospital or some other service type activities. This works well for us.

We had used the teen program two previous years but then when our Youth director moved to California last summer we didn't offer it ;last year the older kids were disappointed. So we reintroduced the teen group this year at Crocodile Dock.
While we use teens as crew leaders and assistant crew leaders, we found that some do not have the spiritual maturity, or are older brothers or sisters of people first-time VBS attendee which we do not know much about. We thought with some teens already helping that the group would be small, about 5. We were very surprised then the group turned out to be 19! It went extremely well.
