Help!  We are just realizing that we have a lice epidemic at church!  My daughter had it 8 weeks ago (for 3 weeks) and now my boys have it.  Our pastors whole family got it last week.  This has been going on since early spring with other families.  last week we closed our kids program and sent letters home and sprayed.  What do we do to prevent this from further spreading??????????

I found this online about lice prevention. Hope it is helpful to you.

Teach children not to share combs, brushes, scarves, hair ribbons, helmets, headphones, hats, towels, bedding, clothing, or other personal items.

Make sure you provide separate storage areas (cubbies or lockers) and widely spaced coat hooks for clothing and other personal articles. They should assign sleeping mats and bedding to only one child and store these separately. They should wash dress-up clothes and play costumes between use by different children. During an outbreak, costumes should not be used in the classroom.

Keep kids' heads apart!  That's about all you can do.  Make sure that they don't share hats or blindfolds or anything that might go from one head to the other.

Lice can't live off of a human head for very long at all so the likelihood of the critters coming from the church building is nearly nil.  If you have stuffed animals, you might want to take them away and bag them in plastic for a few weeks to give any eggs that might be attached to a human hair that could be on the animal a chance to hatch and die.  Lice do not lay eggs on anything other than human heads.

Here are some helpful tips:
