Share praises for your Fall Festival Event!

Describe your event -

What went well?

How did you publicize your event to the community?

What did you do this year that made a huge difference in your event's success?

Did you present the Gospel? If so, how?

Share praises for your Fall Festival Event!

We doubled our attendance and at the last minute more volunteer showed up to fill empty positions. The weather was a balmy 75 degrees!

Describe your event -

Evening Outdoor fair with games, musical and dance performances on center stage, lighted light show and hayride, blow ups, Free food.

What went well?
This year we DIDN'T run out of hotdogs!!! We had plenty of Free Food...even with the double attendance.

How did you publicize your event to the community?

Mailed postcards to all house in a 2 mile radius. Had members hand out business card size invitations to people in the community. Road signs

What did you do this year that made a huge difference in your event's success?

Mailing the postcards, and planning big! Word of mouth about the light show and hayride last year brought out more people.

Did you present the Gospel? If so, how?

Showed a video presentation (What's the point?) from Group's "Take 10" DVD while people waited in line for the hayride. Well received because it was humorous as well as to the point.

Share praises for your Fall Festival Event!

Describe your event -

We have a carnival type event during Trick or Treat that is open to all the kids in our 400 person village.  This is our sixth year!

What went well?

We had so many kids I ran out of bags and had to beg older kids not to take them (we had well over 100 kids through the doors).  We made the trading cards that someone had posted here and they were a big hit!

Now that we've been doing this for several years, the church really gets behind it and we have plenty of volunteers and folks just sort of come and hang out.

We also give away hot coffee, hot chocolate and cookies for the adults outside (many won't come inside) and that is fun to tell them we won't take any money.

Best of all Fred and Wilma actually came to church on Sunday!

How did you publicize your event to the community?

We send fliers home through the school for K-3 grade and rolled the giant arrow sign (that I rescued from the trash and a cm repaired a few years ago!  LOL) out front and had the info there.  Of course, because we're during TorT and we've been doing this for several years, it's become a "tradition" in our tiny village.  So that is TRULY the biggest advertising you can do in a small town!

What did you do this year that made a huge difference in your event's success?

I don't know that we did much different.  We started with WWFF recycling the VBS decorations so that certainly makes things easier to do!  We did get the local news to come and that was really exciting!

Did you present the Gospel? If so, how?

Because we don't use the Finale portion of VBS, we showed a clip from "Prince of Egypt" and did Day 1's standing on the eggs thing and that was a huge hit with the kids.
