| | Hi Y'all, I'm wondering if anyone has come up with some names for naming their crews or if you will be doing numbers or what? I would also like to know how to get the names on the form ever time I try to put in a crew name it says there are no crew names. By the way this is my first year as Director for Children's Ministry and VBS so any help would be appreciated! God Bless! Tammy

| Hi Tammy - I'm new too. In fact, our church hasn't had VBS in a while so it's truly going to be a wild ride I was inspired by the awesome program at another local church and had to bring it to our church.Regarding the naming of crews.... You need to have a crew leader selected for the crew leader names to "stick." I figured this out by creating an entry first named "Crew Leader" and last named "One." Only problem is I had to complete the whole form about my imaginary volunteer, so then I wound up needing to put in my address. I was thinking of having the whole thing set up with "fake" crew leaders, but given all that extra typing... well, it can wait until closer to the date when I actually have people volunteering. Regarding crew names... based on my experience at the other church, numbers work just fine. I like the fact that kids didn't take note of their crews as a separate identity from the group, no one had a "better" name than others, and I like to keep some things simple to prevent volunteer burnout. The other reason is cost savings... we will use posters on sticks at each pew to designate crew meeting ares and also provide canvas crew bags for crew leaders to contain their materials and anything that the kids need throughout the day. We'll be able to use those in the future. Good Luck! |

| | Thank you to everyone who responded to my post all of your information was very helpful. I really appreciate this forum and everyone seems so nice. Kristen a note to you I did figure out the toolbox issue, you need to have crew leaders signed up before you can post any crew names. It would be nice if it could be the other way though. Also thank you to the former newbie for the info. I did pick names and that was a lot of fun!

| I'm having problems with Nursery kids. They show as unsigned but you can't see their names to assign them to the Nursery crew and when you auto they go into Elementary. Can anyone help me with this? I would love to be able to use this for the nursery so they would know who is coming and how many.

| | Sherry... I tried to add my nursery kids just now and I am getting the same thing. It allows you to add them under the nursery heading, but won't allow you to assign them to a nursery crew. Surely this is a glitch in the system???

| | I've been a "Groupie" for quite some time (first Group VBS was Polar Expedition)! For the past 2 years, we have done the HolyLand series and just decided that the kids needed a change so we are back to the "regular" VBS! But, doing the HolyLand series taught me an important trait that I will continue to use. In that series, crews are divided into the 12 tribes of Isreal. Each tribe get a different color bandanna. It is SO EASY to tell from across the room which kid goes with which group. I have ordered paisley bandanas this year (from www.tansclub.com for about $4 a dozen) for each of my crews. What I don't use in a crew--I can use for decorations. If money is a factor, you could always come up with a clever way of getting church members to give $5 for a dozen bandannas! So, I will be naming my crews based on these colors.
