I found all my spices at the dollar store, with the exception of the Dead Sea Salt (imported from Israel), Frankincense (Ethipoia) and Myrrh (from Yemen) which I purchased from Herbal.com. The price and quality was superb! I know I had some left. I can check and see how much I have and send you some if you like.

I talked to a couple of kids at church about the idea of "sand art" using different spices.  Their eyes about bugged out of their heads and they started clapping.  I'll assume that means, "YES!"   I found small plastic sand art bottles at my local craft store for .50 apiece.  We'll let the kids grind up some stuff using the mortars and pestles and then create their art.

We, too, did something very similar with our spices.  The kids were able to grind a few up with a mortar and pestle and then took the mixture home in bags made out of muslin squares (very cheap...I found muslin at Walmart for around 30-40 cents per yard...a yard goes a long way, too) tied with pieces of thin twine.  It was one of the favorite shops!!!  The kids loved smelling the different spices and seeing how small they could grind the spices!

We're doing GBTS this week and just "opened" our spice shop yesterday.  The kids are making sachets using Muslin pouches.  I think they are from PartyMart.com.  We have several bible spices found in a document posted on the Group forum on display in the shop.  The sachets are corriander, lavender, cinnamon and calandula flowers from Atlantic Spice.  Lavender isn't on the bible foods list but we took some dramatic license so they would actually smell more appealing.  I also got a big bag of cedar chips from the Walmart pet department for kids who want to make cedar sachets.  We're having kids shave chips in the carpenter's shop as well - one of our church members had a couple old wood planes.

Almost all of these ideas came from the Group forum so a big, big thank you to everyone who did Galilee previoiusly and posted their ideas on the list!
