Spring is here! At least in the northern part of Colorado, we're seeing leaves just starting to peak out, and spring flowers sharing their color!

Share your questions and ideas here.

Looking ahead to March 25th (Week 4)? We've just learned (thanks, Jill!) that soap flakes are now hard to find. So here are some suggestions Alison, our editor, has checked out:

The most common solution seems to be making your own soap flakes by using a cheese grater to grate ivory soap or a pure vegetable soap. You want to avoid detergents.

Here's a piece of advice I found on the Internet:

Place the soap flat on its widest side and use the side of the grater with the long openings (2 inch slits).

I also contacted the distributor of soap flakes manufacture in the United Kingdom. I was informed that you cannot purchase their soap flakes in stores, but you can order from them.

This is what I was told:

Some school teachers purchase our 8lb or 20lb Soap Flakes "repacks" which we sell at a discount. We experience quite a bit of damage while importing the soap. Mainly crushed or dirty packages that we cannot sell at full price. The Soap Flakes inside the blemished packages are in fine condition. These "repacks" are NOT available on our web site so teachers should email for details or call our toll free number 1-888-508-3496 M-F 9a-5p Eastern Time to order. Quantities are limited based on the amount of damaged stock we experience. Currently we probably have around 300 lbs available for repacking. The repacks also carry our money back guarantee. The Web site is http://www.msodistributing.com/shop/orders.html . The product is Dri-Pak Pure Soap Flakes.

Thank you again for bringing this preschool lesson to our attention. We will need to revise this one.
