| How do you decorate your classroom? Do you have a theme? Do you use posters, gizmos, or other items to make your room interesting? How do you update your room every quarter...every year? Tell us your ideas and let's share! Angela K. DeWispelaere

Have fun! Stand in the doorway of your classroom and see what draws your attention first. Is it an empty bulletin board or a picture window. As a preschool teacher, childrens' ministry coordinator and parent I know that first and foremost a parent will have more confidence in your abilities to care for their children if they are walking into a clean and happy classroom. Post childrens' artwork everywhere, and think outside the box! It doesn't just have to just hang on a cork board. Use it on or around windows, on doors and if you can, consider even hanging it from the ceiling. I like to post a parent information board so the parents stay in touch with class happenings and pictures. However, a child also needs to take ownership in their class by proudly announcing they drew the "rainbow" coat on Joseph. Place story boards and some artwork at the childrens' eye level so the class feels like it belongs to them as well. Remember, as a teacher, the child shouldn't feel like they are stepping into a grown-up world, rather, we should be making every effort to step into theirs.
"Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like the eagles."

| I change the classroom every quarter to match what the lesson are. I try to hang up the things from the lesson if they can be. by doing this the students have a visual reminder of the stories and things they talked about. Kathleen McGinley

| Hi Andy - Actually, Hands-On Bible Curriculum is meant for Toddlers through 6th grade so our decorating tips are probably a bit young for your age group. I would suggest that you visit www.simplyyouthministry.com, another Group company that works specifically with youth. If you check out their site, they have a community forum (see at the top of the home page) where you can possibly post your question to the youth "experts." Hopefully, this helps you. Let us know how things go! Angela DeWispelaere
