| Give us your feedback on which age level is most difficult to teach at your church this year? And post on the forum what difficulties you are having. As a community, we can see if there are some creative ideas for handling challenging situations this year. Angela K. DeWispelaere

| We don't start until kids are in pre-k. Even so some don't know how to teach kids at this age. How can you expect a 3-5 year old to sit still and not get curious about everything that is around them?

We seem to have the most problems with the oldest kids.

Check out VBS Groupies for resources to help with the planning of your VBS.

I teach the tiny ones on Wednesday night and I LOVE it. They seem so easy to me. I love finding a craft and songs and and a game that help them remember wht I am trying to teach them. I have taught the 5-6 grades, and it seems so hard to get them really interested.

| Our grades 1-2 pose a problem because there are so few of them! It's harder to do a class for only one (and occasionally two) children in that age group. So usually they end up in the class with the grades 3-4, which is not an ideal solution, but at least they are interacting. Plus the grades 3-4 are very accepting of this; they don't treat the younger children badly, or from what I can tell, differently at all! As for the comment on teaching Sunday school for children under school age, we are doing so, and it's working wonderfully! They love Sunday school. Because we are using the Hands-On Bible Curriculum, they are kept quite active, and their attention doesn't stray much, and if it does, it's at the end of the the 1/2 hour. And little ones can absorb SO MUCH. My two-year-old told me and my Mother on Thursday (four days after class) that she had learned in Sunday school that "God made birds!" And because we go over them during our devotions time at home, she also has several of her memory verses memorized - and not short ones! (Example: "The Lord is my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble"). Children of that age have a tremendous capacity for learning, and are happy to do so, as long as you keep it moving, are involved and excited yourself, and use a lot of actions and music. It is a lot of work, but it is so worth it. Blessings, Pastor Alisha Melanson, Sunday School Superintendent

| I teach a preschool class of 3- Prek's. The way I teach is kind of like a Blues Clues game. I have different actives that have to do with the story. Usually by the time it is story time they can already tell me what it is about. I am also going to school to get my degree in Early Childhood education so if you need any more more help just email. fan21lucy@yahoo.com Kathleen McGinley
