I am a female pastor, ordained in a mainline denomination. I have read several recent articles concerning pastor's wives. I would like to read more articles on pastor's spouses or specifically pastor's husbands. My husband has a unique situation and enjoys being the "pastor's spouse." He also has many opportunities and challenges. I would be interested in hearing from other female pastors who are married.

I am a children's minister and it has been hard for my husband being the spouse - not just for him but for me! He is also an ordained minister and was a youth minister so I was the ministry spouse. I think our church has done a great job in some ways because the spouses are not expected to do anything in particular - just what they feel called to. We also try to ask the spouse directly to do something rather than going through the staff person. The problem comes when my husband feels he should be leading in some area but others see that as a conflict of interest. Another area that could cause problems, for a woman in ministry, is submitting to my husband and submitting to the elders if there would be a conflict of what each wanted done. I do believe we need more discussion on this as there are more and more women getting into ministry.

You ladies are a breath of fresh air for me.  I am a volunteer youth pastor but my wife, who is an excellent Bible teacher, is often stifiled in the use of her gifts by the elders or pastors.  The church offered me an associate pastorship the first time we met but she is the one with the pastor gifts and would be thrilled to do it (for free).  They won't let her serve.  Bumms me out.

Check out her website, you'll see the talent:  http://coconutmtn.com/rachelspage.html
