Wanted to say that I found vanilla oil for making soap at Hobby Lobby today and it was $2.99 a bottle.  It has a dropper top, so one drop per hand should be pretty easy to control.  We got several bottles and we'll see how they do in Chadder and get more if we need them for HBA!

I found a bottle of vanilla body mist at Dollar Tree--one spritz lasted all day.  This seems to be enough to make the point for Chadder's Theater, but I still need to see if it'll work for the other station.  Either way, it will save a couple $$.

Why not use real vanilla extract?  We were going to just buy it from Price Club (Costco)  Any reason that wouldn't work?

We are in the middle of our Avalanche Ranch this week. We used the body spray from Bath and Body Works called WARM VANILLA SUGAR. It worked out very well in Chadder. The scent stayed for a while. We didn't have any skin allergy problems. I am very allergic to strong scents myself but this scent is very mild. We won't use it again until Friday for the Wild Bible adventure. I think it will work out just fine. You can either spray a small amount or dip you finger in bottle and put on the kids wrist. Hope that helps!

God Bless!

We used Carmel extract today and will again in two days... the kids loved it and couldn't keep from smelling their hands.

I thought the Vanilla oil thing would be too hard to find and the oils do stay on and irritate some people. Extract is easy to find and comes in so many flavors. No problems that I heard about today.

I just went to Big Lots or a Dollar store and bought small bottles of vanilla body spray.  After every child completed there wild bible guide portion of Chadders Theater I collected there book and spritzed a little on the top of there hand.  It worked just fine.

I haven't read all the different manuals, as I only kept the directors manual, so I don't know about the vanilla/onion demonstration.  Just wondering if it had to be vanilla instead of another scent.  I know I shouldn't complain...but vanilla makes me sick!  My friends even know that when I come to their house, the vanilla candles go out!  I get an instant horrible headache and feel queazy!

(I'm adding this edit...I hadn't read about someone using Caramel...that sounds much better to me, as long as it still works with the story!)

One more heads up. I thought that I would take the "safe" route and go with the Bath & Body lotion. I convinced my Chadders leader to do the same. Wouldn't you know it - one little girl had an alergic reaction. I'm not sure what I'll do tomorrow for her - maybe just some vanilla extract?

Our first two groups of kids gagged at the onion, so the onion part of the activity was canceled for the later groups.  Not sure if others had the same problem?
