How do you feel about women being a minister of students? Or as an interim or intern?

Any time you help or care about someone you are ministering. Everyone then is a minister. How do you feel about an old guy leading a youth group thats mostly girls (that's me)? If you're a mature Christian, have solid doctrine, and love kids you should do it. If this is perhaps a shot at the tradition that only men can serve as Elders or Pastors there could be some Biblical arguments supporting that but I don't like that idea either.

The real issue would be: Can a woman be close enough to a male student in the tough times to make a difference without the risk of becoming inappropriately involved? In addition, can a woman really understand about male issues like a man can? For that it's good to have mature Christian men around teenage boys.

I have a lady volunteer (even older than me) who I send in when a woman's touch is needed. We watch over each other shoulder for accountability but we take turns teaching the class. I am only the "Youth Leader" because I am willing to take the responsibility of pulling off the group each week.

Our High School Youth Leader was a young woman but she stepped down after her second child was born. She did a great job but had a couple of guys around all the time.

If God is leading you don't let anything stop you. Here's what my wife says about over thinking things: Don't meet trouble half way, make it go the full distance. Something is bound to happen to it before it gets to you.

I have been ministering to kids since I got saved at the age of 13. By the time I graduated High School I felt the Lord leading me to a life in the ministry. I officially became a Children's Minister by the age of 27 and have been learning and growing ever since (15 years - Yeah, do the math!). My teachers/mentors have all been women! Thank God for them and their willingness to serve and to be obedient to the call.

Partnering with parents to "TRAIN" up our children in the way they should go!
