Our team is looking at the possibility of animating our Bible Memory Buddies for 2008. The general idea is just a brief, daily intro from each Buddy. But we want your feedback! How would you envision using these? Would you prefer something online that kids could e-mail to other kids? Or maybe animation you could put on your church Web site? Or, perhaps you just don't like the idea...

What are your thoughts and ideas? We're listening!

Well, as you already know I have been animating the buddies (with your permission) for use as siggys on the board and they love 'em. Last year for Fiesta I animated all of them, Rosa still being the most popular hip shaking lady in pink! I am sure Group can create some awesome animation for the buddies and I would definitely be using them on our church website and prayerfully be one of the first to grab one as a siggy!

In three short words, GO FOR IT!

Jody,

I think that that is a great idea. I would use them on my Group's Web Toy Box homepage and other pages in the Web Toy Box. I would also use it on my church's website. I would also use them for the Staff Training Party and maybe as a siggy.

One suggestion though. The animated Bible Buddies that were on the Lava Lava Island Music DVD weren't the best. Would the new Bible Buddies look more detailed and lifelike?

A couple more ideas for the animated buddies.

They would be great for doing PPT VBS advertisments, and I would defenitley like to see them animated on the overview video instead of just their image and their voices in the background.

I love the idea of a daily intro as well.

We're thinking more "cartoon-like" versions. Think of how Veggie Tales took the CG version of Larry and made him more Saturday-morning-cartoon-like for the LarryBoy cartoons.

So, are you indicating that you'd prefer something more like a moving version of the buddy, or something more like a scripted cartoon?

I think a scripted cartoon would be awesome. This would bring the characters to life. Our kids love the buddies, but there really has been very little connection to them. I think the kids would like them all the more if they saw them in action.

It's a great idea Jody. I use the buddies a lot in our VBS, so any "extras" of them is welcome.

Well, scripted cartoon would definitely be a step up in animation and I would love it! But exactly where would they appear animated? On the overview video or a separate daily video clip? Not during Chadder's Theater I hope. I don't think Chadder would appreciate those animated buddies stealing his thunder! If you do animate them like the VT then I am afraid Chadder's popularity will soon be coming to an end! Unless of course you have plans of animating him too!

Jody,

You gave me a great idea! When you said a scripted animation I thought of a story with all the Bible Buddies and they could have an adventure and learn the different Bible Points together. You could use this as a promotional event for VBS. Have a movie night and show it so you could get people excited about VBS.

I would think regular animation would be fine for the overview segment, music DVD, and as add-ons to the Web Toy Box pages.
