Are people buying the wild Bible Guides for the little ones?
I have found that the Daily Challenge strips and the French
books can both be bought individually. It will save me about
$50.00.
I will ask my pre-school teachers what they think, but would like
any input.
Thanks,
Caroline Johnson

| We decided to go for them this year to use extra time up in crafts. We will "give" the game activities from crafts to Bible Adventures, which always seems to end early with the younger ones. HTH! Kirsten

We like to use the Bible Books for the children. In addition to what they learn by using it at VBS, this is the only scripture that some of them will have in their homes. We are hoping that they will continue to read the stories and look at their books at home and also to share them with their families, who otherwise (unfortunately) might not have that much exposure to the God's Word.
Good luck on your decision!

This is the first year that I have purchased the preschool books mainly because of the coloring page and they use their books every day. I did not order the elementary ones (I need twice as many of those) and from what I looked at in the manual they do not use theirs each day. This is also the first year that we are able to do the OK2K. So we needed the Bible books to go with the bears. I ordered them separately for the older kids. There are a lot of website with bible story coloring pages if you need one to match the story. I like how preschool friendly the ones in the books are though. Last year I made my own daily challenge bracelets on my Print Shop program for the kids to save money too.

| Hi, just thought I'd chime in on the bible books for preschoolers...in the past we have purchased them and used them and they are great. But that was only for about a dozen of the workers kids. This year, we are doing a whole preschool VBS (along with the regular one for elementary age) and we are planning for about 50 preschoolers; because of budget issues, we did not buy them this year. We chose to purchase bible buddies for each child instead. I ended up making my own sheet that was simply a coloring page (found on the internet) and short recap of the story. I added some of the clipart and put each day's buddy, bible point and treasure verse on the sheet. I am also making my own daily challenge bracelets which will have the buddy, bible point and challenge on it. Bottom line for me...if you can afford them, they are great and the kids will love them! If not, there are some cheaper alternatives that can be just as effective. Hope this helps! Tera

IMO, this kind of coloring-book activity isn't the best for preschoolers in terms of their development (but I'm very crunchy-granola about that kind of thing). Encourages single-correct-answer thinking, etc. But the first year we did VBS, I *didn't* order these books, and my preschool leaders complained. It's a reasonably good tool for getting the message across and recapping the story, and the other elements of the preschool day are VERY appropriate developmentally.
In sum, it isn't my favorite, and I don't think it's totally necessary, but it's effective and there's enough other Really Good Stuff going on that I don't worry too much about it.

| I'm really confused about the Preschool Craft and Play station. The preschoolers usually make the same craft as the elementary kids. The elementary kids talk about OK2K a bit, but otherwise are filling the entire 20 minutes with the craft. Why are there three additional activities for the preschoolers in the same amount of time? It takes them much longer to make the craft than the elementary kids. My preschool Craft and Play director wants to just focus on one craft without the other activities, but I really want her to at least squeeze in the Bible books, too. She's very stressed over it. Am I missing something? Thanks, Trisha
